Hin Daeng - Hin Muang

Intro

Hin Daeng is probably one of the best dive sites in the country. A large rocky outcrop forming a series of walls and ledges below the surface that are covered with soft red corals and because of its remote location attracts larger pelagic fish.It is one of the few places where you will have the chance to spot the grey reef sharks and possibly even whale sharks. Sting rays are common in the area and they could fly over you for hours. Marine life is abundant and colorful and you could observe rare species such as blue triggerfish, red tooth fish, clown fish, blue surgeon fish and some large eel. Barracuda patrols and a school of batfish are also common in the area.

Hin Muang is located at approximately 500 metres from Hin Daeng, it is a series of submerged pinnacles with a south-west inclination and down to over 60 meters deep. It is one of the deepest drop offs in Thailand. Like its neighbour it takes its name from the purple soft corals that cover its walls and attract large pelagic species. A great diversity of marine life awaits you here, shoals of tiny anthias will sweep through schools of snappers and fusiliers, huge barracudas, you will see it all in Hin Muang. Mantas are common in the area and you could observe them at leisure.
