Why us?
- Intro
Burma / Myanmar opened again to tourists in 1997 after more than 50 years in isolation. It was then an exceptional time for diving and many documentaries praised this destination for the many unexplored sites it offered.
This situation changed in the following years when destructive fishing practices started to take place in the area and we boycotted it for many years.
However, we recently decided to resume our boycott as the Burmese government has been fighting these bad practices and the coral reefs and the marine life, notably in the Mergui archipelago, have been thriving and the Mergui islands are set to become a top spot for diving in the years to come.
